Hike the Ancient Path to Machu Picchu

The Inca Trail is a 43-kilometer trek through the Andes that follows the original stone pathway built by the Inca Empire over 500 years ago. It passes through cloud forests, alpine tundra, and dozens of Inca ruins before culminating at the Sun Gate, your first view of Machu Picchu at sunrise.

Unlike other treks in Peru, the Classic Inca Trail requires a government-issued permit, limited to just 500 people per day (including guides and porters). The permit cap keeps the trail uncrowded. You share campsites with a handful of groups, not hundreds.

Our travel packages give you time to adjust to altitude while visiting Cusco, Lima, Arequipa, and Puno. Each package includes professional guides, porters, all meals on the trek, camping equipment, and guaranteed permits. We have guided over 5,000 trekkers since 2005.

Common Questions

How far in advance should I book the Inca Trail?
Book 4–6 months ahead for dry season (May–Sept). The government issues only 500 permits per day, and peak months sell out fast. See our permits guide for monthly availability.
How difficult is the Inca Trail?
The Classic 4-day trek is rated moderate to challenging. Day 2 crosses Dead Woman's Pass at 4,215m. No technical climbing, just steady hiking at altitude. Read our altitude sickness guide for preparation tips.
Can I visit Machu Picchu without trekking?
Yes. Our non-trekking packages reach Machu Picchu by scenic train through the Sacred Valley, perfect for families, seniors, and travelers with limited time.
What is included in your tour packages?
All packages include hotels, permits, professional guides, porters, meals on the trek, camping gear, and Machu Picchu entry. Specific inclusions vary. See each tour page for details.
