Jason and I got back to Los Angeles safely yesterday. I'd like to thank you for a fulfilling and exhilarating experience in Peru. I know it wouldn't have been achieved without you and your gracious staffs. We left with enormous amounts of knowledge and respect for Peruvians and their culture. What amazed us was the dedication and spirit that they put into their work. We see that in the waiters, porters, guides, and locals. There are so much values and discipline collectively throughout whether its in Puno, Cusco, Lima, Ollyantambo, or Aguas Calientes. We have been blessed to come across people that had so much passion for their own country and its history and was able to give us the knowledge of the obstacles and struggles that the Incans faced to protect its country.
One of the very endearing experiences was during my 4 day trek on the Inca trail. Everyone there shared a love for beauty in nature even though we all sort of struggled being out of our own element, but we all agreed that it was worth every moment. And even watching all the porters work so hard and guides trying to make us feel comfortable, it motivated me to get the most out of my experience. Waking up today without some saying " Buenos Dias, Senora. Coca Tea?" is something I will miss and reminisce for a long time.
Its all very facinating. It was a very different experience for us. We have been to many countries in the world, but we have never experienced and absorbed the culture like we did in Peru. We are left enlightened with a gratitude for everyone that have made our experience a great one. |
